Merak and Sakteng trek
Merak and Sakteng are two highland settlements in Sakteng Wildlife Sanctuary lying from above 3000 metres above the sea level. Yak herders who live in the Merak Sakteng region are semi-nomadic, and they have a distinctive and fascinating culture. They have their own deities, an own dialect, and way of clothing. The Himalayan bear, Himalayan red fox, endangered snow leopard, and red panda can all be found at Sakteng Wildlife Sanctuary, which is also the home of the mythical yeti.
Trashiyangtse, Chorten Kora
The Chorten Kora, one of Eastern Bhutan’s best known stupas and tourist attractions, captivates visitors with its magnificent architecture and flawless setting. This magnificent structure of great religious and cultural significance was built in the 18th century. It is 2 hours’ drive from Trashigang town.
Gomphukora
Gom Kora is also known as Gomphu Kora. On the route leading to Trashiyangtse, it is a roughly 24-kilometer trip from Trashigang. The temple is well known for its festival held in the 2nd lunar month.
Radhi Village
Radhi village is famous for two things, its rice fields and Radhi-Buray textiles. Due to its lush rice fields, which provide the majority of the grain to the eastern parts of the country, it is frequently referred to as the “Rice Bowl of the East.” Some of the most genuine, premium raw silk textiles to be found anywhere in Bhutan are made in Radhi village. Radhi is located some 30 km east of Trashigang town.
Hiking from the Resort
Hike for 45 minutes from resort to Trashigang town in order to unleash beautiful scenery of Dzong, Drangmechhu River and the town.
Rangshikhar Lhakhang
Of all the temples in Bhutan, Rangshikhar Lhakhang is one of the biggest. Locals travel to this temple, which is 10 km north of Trashigang town, to receive Rinpoche’s blessings. The site of the temple is perfect to be used for a trekking, short drive, or hiking from Trashigang town. It is roughly 3hrs hike and 40 minutes drive to reach the destination. One of the top tourist destinations in Trashigang is Rangshikhar Lhakhang.
Gong Thung Village
Gong Thung, which is located above the Drangmechhu river is full of fascinating sights to see and things to do, making it worth a trip. The trail from gongthung village to Trashigang dzong is 1 hour drive and 3 hours hike. Take in the panoramic view of Trashigang Dzong, Drangmechhu River and the Eastern Valley as you explore.
Samkhar Hike
Samkhar hike is one of the outdoor recreational facility near Trashigang town. The 3.4-kilometer-long eco-trail travels through forests above Trashigang town overlooking Trashigang Dzong and the town. It is approximately 2 hours hike from the town.
